The National Association of Home Builders, aka NAHB, presented the IBS (International Builders’ Show) The New American Home 2015 to #BlogTourVegas with a private tour this January 19, 2015.
From the time the #BlogTourVegas bus dropped us off, I knew this was going to be a treat!
Designed and built by Blue Heron Architecture and Interiors for and sponsored by the NAHB and BUILDER. Also, home No. 32 in a long line of New American Homes built for the NAHB convention, this 2 story, shy of 5,900 square feet, was simply spectacular. As you can see, it was evening when we arrived. I almost preferred this arrival time because I love drama. And DRAMA, it had!! Some of the products showcased by National Association of Home Builders supplier members will be highlighted here.
As we approached the living spaces, we start to experience the architecture. But a little sneak peek here as we travel down a corridor…

From the entrance, you walk along a hallway before you actually reach all the living spaces. As you look at the end of the path, you get a clue of what’s to come!
Ahh…but first, to your right is a small powder room which features some of Walker Zanger’s tiles.
Once you’ve reached the end of the hallway…
BAM!
An amazing spacious living area with the floating stair! But what unifies all of the spaces is the continuity of materials and how the indoor spaces became outdoor living.
The Blue Heron design team focused on integrating rather than segregating spaces, Jones says. For example, the kitchen, breakfast nook, dining area, and great room share one open space that also connects to the backyard pool area and central courtyard.

About to be treated with an oversized glasses of red wine on top of a Walker Zanger ‘s slab! Chatting away is our very own Flo von Pelet of Modenus.com.
And finally…DINNER! We have been on the go, go, go all day and a warm spread awaits on the kitchen island. And in the kitchen, you’ll find Thermador, Bosch, and Gaggeneau appliances.
And the tour continues…
This hall, pictured above, shows the same flooring and walls with much DRAMA again! Love the backlit Walker Zanger tiled wall from the Tangent Collection surrounding the gas fireplace. Don’t you? Well, if you do, take a look at what other fabulous options they have here http://bit.ly/172RQ22 !
And what’s not to like? How can you not be inspired when the possibilities with respect to specifying from Walker Zanger is endless? Take a look again for more inspiration with their marble slabs like shown below on their site: http://bit.ly/1CJlDdJ
As we toured the interior, we can’t help but think how Blue Heron Design Build (functioned as the architect, interior designer, and builder) have blended the interior and outdoor designs well. The flashy entertaining spaces of the interior poured out into the architectural landscape of the outdoors seemlessly.
Let’s go upstairs…shall we?

Here, all the way from Auckland, New Zealand, #BlogTourVegas crew member Mal Corboy checking out the bar!
Stunning! As you reach the second floor, you are presented with a fabulous another of Walker Zanger’s backlit stone slab bar. Did I say DRAMA??
But I have digressed (I think that was the purpose of the design!) Let’s get you back at point of beginning at the top of the stairs. As you start to look down on the floor, you’ll note a change in flooring. On the second floor, Mohawk Clarett Graphite oak hardwood flooring was used to give a warmth to this “first of its kind” fully integrated home technology solution designed home for the hard surface and Karastan’s Vienne, Chic Vibe, New Direction, Libertine and Woven Grassland carpets spread throughout for its softer surfaces.
As we ventured into the bedrooms, more Karastan rugs were discovered and they looked amazing, as in the master’s bedroom, at the sitting area (see photo below.
Then we move on to the master bathroom. Here, we saw another spectacular interiors with products like Walker Zanger that just WOWed us all.
The above photo shows how you can add warmth to an bathroom interior and yet still be luxurious in every way by introducing natural elements from nature and or even borrowed the very essence of nature in the tiles and add that element of style with Walker Zanger’s Galactica mosaic. If this is not your style, there are so many others to choose from here.
A few more rooms on the second floor but too many to mention here. Let’s take you back down on the first floor by way of the elevator, shall we?
BlogTourVegas members witnessed the red wine test and many ‘oohs and ahhs’ form this group as we gathered on the first floor again around the living/kitchen area.
It would be remiss not to mention Mohawk’s Karastan’s SmartStrand® Silk™ Forever Clean™. This technology combines the silky softness of their carpets and incorporating permanent stain resistance property.
“SmartStrand Silk is the carpet innovation that continues to surpass all expectations of our retail partners and their customers,” Storey said. “Before SmartStrand Silk, the carpet industry was unable to offer luxuriously soft comfort in addition to superior stain protection, durability and sustainability in one product.” Eco-friendly SmartStrand Silk is made in part of annually renewable plant-based material and now features Mohawk’s new Nanoloc™ technology, an advanced layer of protection that locks out spills and makes the carpet even easier to clean. With the ultimate stain resistance that never wears or washes off, Karastan SmartStrand is the soft, durable option that gives consumers beautiful, sustainable floors.
Thanks for the memories #BlogTourVegas!
